Eric Wilson slated to release Christian vampire tale with Thomas Nelson

with 6 comments

Eric Wilson, author of such titles as Dark to Mortal Eyes and The Best of Evil, is set to release Field of Blood in October, a Christian story involving vampires (the first of three). Details are scarce at the moment as to some of the darker elements of the plot, but Wilson has released a trailer promoting the new project (viewable below). We are very excited about such a title. But, we’re also aware that such a title is naturally going to be controversial. Tell us your thoughts. Would you read a Christian story that involves “the undead?”

  1. I know Eric will do an awesome job with this material. I think he’s going to blow our minds by going where so many Christian writers are scared to go, only to illuminate the message of the Gospel in a fresh and powerful way. I can’t wait to see what Eric does with this series!

  2. I have to say, I’m already a fan of the vampire genre to begin with. However, it gets a bit dark and hopeless at times, often the protagonist being as screwed up as the vampire he or she hunts. Knowing Wilson’s work, I’m interested in seeing how he shines a light into that darkness. Should be good.

  3. I’m a big fan of love/action stories revolving around vampires and werewolves. Underworld and Blood & Chocolate are a couple of my favorite movies. Sue Dent is the first Christian author that I found that had a book dealing with these fascinating subjects. You should check her out.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with Christian literature taking on vampire and werewolf folklore as long as they bring something fresh to their story.

  4. Sue Dent’s Never Ceese is great. Ted Dekker also explores vampire themes in Chaos and John B. Olson’s upcoming book, Shade, also deals with vampires. The bloodsuckers are taking over Christian Fiction!

  5. Come on over Eric! Can’t wait to see what you’ve got!

I’ll be revealing the release date to the sequel to my Bram Stoker Short-Listed Never Ceese September 1st. What a great and exciting time to be a Christian author.

  6. I’m a Christian Goth that has always been intrigued with Vampires and their parallels of Christianity. I’ve been waiting for a book like this to come out since I got saved 13 years ago. Check out the following links to learn more about Christian Goths/Vampires:
