Surgeon Offers Rx for the Body of Christ

(Wheaton, IL)—June 26, 2008—Scan the covers of a few popular magazines, watch a late-night infomercial, or spend some time browsing the Internet and you can easily conclude that little interests us as much as our own bodies. Diagnosis and treatment of problems, both real and imaginary, is a billion-dollar industry. But how often do we consider the health of the body of Christ?

This metaphor, the body of Christ, is one of the chief ways that the Bible teaches us to think about the church, and practicing surgeon Harry Kraus brings it to life in The Cure: The Divine Rx for the Body of Christ—Life-Changing Love.  He explains how an understanding of physiology—the wonderful way God has put together the physical body in function and form—can show us how love can be realized in the life of the believer and the church.

When asked what can be done to inherit eternal life, Jesus’ answer can be summed up in a single word: love. Love stands at the heart of the gospel, the core of God’s motivation and plan to rescue his bride. Through this careful dissection of Paul’s metaphor, readers will come to an understanding about Christ’s command (love!) and how to fulfill it.
